AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 6 -- The Texas Democratic Party issued the following news:

Senate Democrats worked Thursday until early this morning securing votes on dozens of amendments in order to pave the way for the passage of President Biden's much-needed $1.9 trillion COVID-19 rescue package.

The package included a federal minimum wage increase to $15 an hour, which was shot down by Republicans who introduced an amendment to stop the wage increase during the pandemic.
