EAST LANSING, Michigan, Jan. 20 -- Michigan State University issued the following news release:

Blood donations are typically down in the winter, which is why January is National Blood Donor Month, but this winter the situation has become critical. COVID-19 has forced the country into a shortage of certain blood products.
