Hawaii Gov. Ige Appoints Hawaii Island Educator, Community Leader to Fill Vacant State Senate Seat

HONOLULU, Hawaii, Jan. 20 -- Gov. David Ige, D-Hawaii, issued the following news release:

Gov. David Ige has appointed long-time educator Laura Clint Acasio to the Hawaii State Senate, District 1 - which encompasses the greater Hilo area on Hawaii Island. Acasio fills the seat previously held by U.S. Rep. Kai Kahele, who was elected to U.S. Congress in November.
