SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Dec. 8 (TNSMon) -- The Alamo Colleges District issued the following news release on Dec. 7:

In celebration of our 75th anniversary, the Alamo Colleges District is excited to announce a $1 million gift from Malu and Carlos Alvarez to establish the Alvarez Challenge Grant, which will fund scholarships for Alamo Colleges' AlamoPROMISE students to help them reach their educational goals. The Challenge grant is intended to be completed within five years.
