AUGUSTA, Maine, Oct. 13 -- The Maine Democratic Party issued the following news release:

A new report in Salon digs into how Senator Collins used her position on the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee (HSGAC) to write legislation that helped her future husband's firm obtain $76 million in government contracts.

Thomas Daffron served as a consultant on Collins' campaigns for more than a decade and ran her leadership PAC until they married in 2012 . . .
