TOPEKA, Kansas, Sept. 26 -- The Kansas Department of Insurance issued the following news release on Sept. 25:

The Office of the Kansas Securities Commissioner, a division of the Kansas Insurance Department, announced today that it is participating in a consolidated nationwide enforcement action to halt a fraudulent precious metals scheme that has solicited $185 million from at least 1,600 seniors and other investors.
