Research Shows Grassland, Prairie Essential for Wildlife, Water Quality Being Lost to Cropland Conversion

WASHINGTON, Sept. 10 (TNSJou) -- The National Wildlife Federation issued the following news release on Sept. 9:

New research published today indicates that, despite declining crop prices, the United States is losing an average of more than 1 million acres per year to cropland conversion.

This habitat loss of grasslands and habitat, devastating for wildlife and water quality, is detailed in new research and data visualization from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
