RALEIGH, North Carolina, Aug. 21 -- The North Carolina Democratic Party issued the following news:
On Thursday, Rep. David Lewis, trusted advisor to Speaker Tim Moore and architect of modern Republican gerrymandering and voter suppression in North Carolina, resigned after pleading guilty to federal charges of making false statements to a bank and failing to file a tax return.
