BATON ROUGE, Louisiana, Aug. 12 -- Louisiana State University issued the following news release:
Pure honey is made by bees in hives, but many products sold as pure honey actually come from fields--at least in part. Cane, corn, beet, and rice are much cheaper sources of sugar than flower nectar. As syrups, they can be mixed with real honey to produce lookalikes that sort of taste like the real thing and could passably be sold as such, but with a much higher profit margin.
