NASHVILLE, Tennessee, July 23 -- The Tennessee Democratic Party issued the following statement on July 22 by chair Mary Mancini:
Republican Secretary of State Tre Hargett testified in front of a U.S. Senate committee regarding Tennessee's preparations for our elections. During his testimony he lied to one Senator about the reason we couldn't expand absentee voting and was called "pitiful" by another.
