NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana, July 7 -- Tulane University issued the following news release:
To understand the story of Hurricane Katrina, Andy Horowitz, an assistant professor of history and the Paul and Debra Gibson Professor in the School of Liberal Arts at Tulane University, took a trip back in time, all the way to 1915.
It was in that year that a powerful and largely-forgotten hurricane hit New Orleans, leaving a foot of water in parts of the city for nearly a week.
