FORT BELVOIR, Virginia, June 25 -- The U.S. Department of Defense's Defense Logistics Agency issued the following news:
Air Force Maj. Gen. Allan E. Day, the Defense Logistics Agency's logistics operations director, likes to say DLA was "forged in reform." It was also forged in crisis. Between DLA's establishment Oct. 1, 1961, and the agency receiving supply centers from the services Jan. 1, 1962, a crisis in Berlin severed lines of communication in Europe. . . .
