WASHINGTON, Nov. 27 -- The Union of Concerned Scientists issued the following statement by Andrew Rosenberg, director of the Center for Science and Democracy:

William D. Ruckelshaus, the first administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under President Richard Nixon, died today at the age of 87.
