WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 -- Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Nebraska, a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and chairman of the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, issued the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Air Force Gen. John Hyten as vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff by a bipartisan 75-22 vote:
