WASHINGTON, Sept. 17 -- Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Michigan, issued the following statement on the death of journalist Cokie Roberts:
"Cokie was my girlfriend. We were Sacred Heart girls, her parents and John's parents were friends. We shared laughter, pain and were one of the first women in our careers.
"As a writer, she educated generations of Americans about the historic women who made our county great. Cokie left an incredible mark on the world with her remar . . .
