WASHINGTON, Sept. 11 -- Sens. Richard J. Durbin, D-Illinois, and Tammy Duckworth, D-Illinois, issued the following joint statement after District Judge Ruben Castillo, a federal district court judge in the Northern District of Illinois, announced that he will be retiring effective Sept. 27:
"Judge Castillo served with integrity and distinction in the Northern District of Illinois for more than 25 years.
