WASHINGTON, Sept. 4 -- Reps. Frank Pallone Jr., D-New Jersey, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and Jan Schakowsky, D-Illinois, chairman of the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce, issued the following joint statement after the Auto Alliance and Global Automakers announced a commitment to add rear seat reminder systems to vehicles by Model Year 2025 in order to help prevent children from dying in hot cars:
