University of Michigan: This Protein Is How Creatures Sense Cold, Researchers Discover--It's Found in Organisms Ranging From Tiny Worms to Humans

ANN ARBOR, Michigan, Aug. 30 [TNSscienceresearch] -- The University of Michigan issued the following news release:

Researchers have identified a receptor protein that can detect when winter is coming.

The findings, published Aug. 29 in the journal Cell, reveal the first known cold-sensing protein to respond to extreme cold.
