WASHINGTON, Aug. 15 -- Rep. G.K. Butterfield, D-North Carolina, issued the following statement on President Trump's judicial nomination of Richard E. Myers to serve in the District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina:
"The Eastern District deserves diversity on the Federal bench. There has never been an African American judge in the district despite having a minority population greater than 30%.
