AUGUSTA, Maine, Aug. 5 -- The Maine Democratic Party issued the following statement by Chair Kathleen Marra on mass shootings in Gilroy, California; El Paso, Texas; and Dayton, Ohio:
"1 week, 38 dead, 80 injured. In the span of one week, three individual gunmen took 38 lives and injured 80 more. The victims were daughters, sons, brothers, sisters, husbands, and wives who had the audacity to attend their community's garlic festival, go shopping, and enjoy a popular nightlife spo . . .
