WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 -- Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Nebraska, issued the following statement in advance of the Senate's vote on a two-year budget agreement:
"I appreciate the efforts of our congressional negotiators to come to a good faith agreement, but this deal fails to make the necessary spending reductions or reforms and does not meet the requirements of the national defense strategy." . . .
