BRIDGMAN, Michigan, July 22 -- Indiana Michigan Power, a unit of the American Electric Power, issued the following news release:
At 8:26 a.m. Sunday morning, July 21, Indiana Michigan Power's Cook Nuclear Plant Unit 2 was safely taken offline after operators noted a gradual decline in performance of both of the unit's two non-essential service water (NESW) pumps. Non-essential service water is used to maintain cooling for the main turbine's lube oil system.
