Alaska A.G. Clarkson: Court Imposes Maximum Sentence in Anchorage Strangulation Attack

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, July 12 -- Alaska Attorney General Kevin G. Clarkson issued the following news release:

An Anchorage judge yesterday issued a maximum 10-year sentence to 45-year-old Alvin Wassillie on charges of Assault in the Second Degree and Assault in the Fourth Degree.

The charges stemmed from an assault on a woman near 15th and Ingra Streets in August 2016. Evidence at trial showed that Wassillie dragged the victim into a wooded area and strangled her. The vict . . .
