AMHERST, Massachusetts, June 20 -- The University of Massachusetts's Amherst campus issued the following news:
Buildings consume some 40 percent of energy in the United States, and within those residential and commercial structures, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems guzzle 46 percent of the power used, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
