WASHINGTON, June 19 -- Rep. Albio Sires, D-New Jersey, issued the following statement regarding the Trump administration's decision to move ahead with funding cuts to foreign assistance programs intended to address the root causes of migration from Central America:
"President Trump's decision to cut funding for poverty and violence-reducing programs that mitigate the root causes of migration proves that this policy is purely about satisfying extreme elements in his political ba . . .
