ANNAPOLIS, Maryland, May 1 -- The Maryland Democratic Party issued the following news:
On Wednesday, the Maryland General Assembly voted to elect Speaker Pro Tem Adrienne Jones (D-Baltimore County) as its new Speaker of the House of Delegates. Jones made history as the first woman and first African American to hold the office. Jones's election follows the tenure of the late Speaker Michael Busch-- an Anne Arundel County Democrat who served as Speaker from 2003 until his passing . . .
