AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 11 -- The Republican Party of Texas issued the following statement:
Today, former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro announced his candidacy for President of the United States. Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey commented:
"The Democrat Party is in a steady move to the left. As Mayor of San Antonio, Castro's biggest goal was to raise taxes.
"Now, he's trying to take his leftist policies . . .
