WASHINGTON, Aug. 23 -- Reps. Nita Lowey, D-New York, ranking member of the House Appropriations Committee, and Rosa L. DeLauro, D-Connecticut, ranking member of its Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education, issued the following joint statement on reports that Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is considering using federal funds to arm teachers:
