CHICAGO, Illinois, June 7 -- Chicago Teachers Union issued the following news release:
The promise earlier this spring was a relief to parents and educators: CPS officials appointed by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel would 'hold schools harmless' in budgeting for the upcoming school year. But word almost immediately began to surface in school communities that cuts to staff and programs were, in fact, coming.
