WASHINGTON, June 7 -- The office of Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tennessee, issued the following news release:

Senate health committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and United States Senator Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) today introduced legislation to reduce infant deaths and improve infant health by continuing research and education programs aimed at preventing preterm births.

"In Tennessee, 11 percent of infants are born prematurely, putting them at an increased risk . . .
