Supreme Court Case Declined to Rule That Religious Views of Business Owners Provide a Broad License to Discriminate

WASHINGTON, June 4 -- The National Women's Law Center issued the following news release:

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled today in Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission. In its decision, the Court did not accept the invitation to announce that businesses may discriminate against LGBTQ individuals but decided the case narrowly, based on facts specific to the case at hand.
