ANN ARBOR, Michigan, May 29 -- The University of Michigan issued the following news release:
For more than 12 hours overnight, University of Michigan students, faculty and other participants protested the Vietnam War in 1965 through a series of debates, presentations and seminars. This was the first teach-in ever.
Word of the undertaking spread, and more than 35 universities followed suit within the next week, using Michigan's example of the teach-in.
