WASHINGTON, May 29 -- The International Monetary Fund issued the following statement by James Daniel, assistant director of the IMF's Department of Asia and Pacific, after a visit to Beijing and Shenzhen, China, on May 17-30 to discuss the annual Article IV review of the Chinese economy:
"The Chinese economy is performing well and reforms are making good progress. Our discussions in the past two weeks focused on the authorities' development and reform agenda to achiev . . .
