SALEM, Oregon, Feb. 27 -- Oregon State Treasurer Tobias Read issued the following news release:

Shareholders play an important role in holding corporate management accountable, which increases the likelihood of long-term sustainability and profitability. A bill in Congress could weaken shareholders' rights.

Accordingly, State Treasurer Tobias Read is joining a coalition of 47 major institutional investors and investor advocates to oppose the proposed legislation.
