UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania, Dec. 11 -- Pennsylvania State University issued the following news release:
In 1892, for the first time, Penn State offered a way for people to learn without coming to the campus in State College. While students were being taught by Penn State's faculty in the classrooms of buildings such as Old Engineering and Old Botany, so were farmers in rural Pennsylvania and across the country, thanks to the U.S. mail.
