Army Contracting Key to Medical Breakthroughs

WASHINGTON, Jan. 20 -- The U.S. Army issued the following news release:

A medical research contract established through the Army Contracting Command -- Aberdeen Proving Ground has led to the nation's first full face transplant and the first combination face and hands transplant.

This contract was established as part of a biomedical translational initiative directed by the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs under the direction of Thomas J. Bouchar . . .
