WASHINGTON, Jan. 19 -- The U.S. Army issued the following news release:
The research conducted on tourniquets at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research is proving to be beneficial beyond the battlefield. The research that started in 2004 showed that tourniquets were effective at stopping blood loss from injuries to the arms and legs without long-term complications, saving the lives of wounded warriors.
