WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 -- The office of Sen. David Vitter, R-La., issued the following news release:
U.S. Sen. David Vitter today secured a commitment from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to deploy its dredge Wheeler to Southwest Pass today to begin immediate dredging. Vitter has held multiple phone calls with Corps Major General John Peabody - including yesterday - during which Vitter specifically urged the Corps to take action and deploy the Wheeler.
