ROANOKE, Va., Aug. 5 -- The city of Roanoke issued the following news release:
The Roanoke Police Department saw a decrease of nearly four percent in crime city-wide during the first six months of 2010 as compared to the first six months of 2009. However, calls for police service of a domestic nature increased 20 percent during the same time period, and domestic incidents investigated by officers rose 38 percent. This includes increases in the following categories:
