SEATTLE, Dec. 12 -- The office of the Seattle Mayor issued the following news release:
Mayor Greg Nickels announced today that the city of Seattle will open severe weather overnight shelters for homeless people for at least the next three days.
While the National Weather Service has canceled a winter storm warning for today, city departments are still taking steps to prepare roads and utility systems for cold weather, winds, and the possibility of some snow this wee . . .
