MADISON, Wis., Aug. 23 -- Wisconsin Emergency Management issued the following news release:
While the National Flood Insurance Program was enacted 40 years ago, its roots stretch back 184 years.
The following chronology provides highlights of the legislative history and the catastrophic events that led federal and state entities to pass the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968 and create the National Flood Insurance Program:
