OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug. 11 -- The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center issued the following news release:
The Oklahoma Poison Control Center has received 116 calls this year involving snakebites. Poison centers nationwide receive about 7,000 calls each year for snakebites.
Oklahoma has three varieties of poisonous snakes: copperhead, cottonmouth (also known as a water moccasin) and rattlesnake. This year, 43 percent of the snake bites reported to the poison cen . . .
