At the opening ceremony, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez welcomed The Moving Wall, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, to Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami on Friday, November 7.
