WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 -- The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of African Affairs issued the following press release:
Question: What recent contacts/discussions have we had with Russia on the freighter?
Answer: The U.S. Government has had frequent discussions with the Governments of Ukraine, Russia, Belize, Latvia and Kenya regarding M/V FAINA. We have been in contact with Russia both in Washington and Moscow to coordinate diplomatically.
