TIKRIT, Iraq, May 20 -- The U.S. Army 1st Armored Division issued the following news release:
Insurgents killed 11 Iraqi volunteers who were on their way to join the Iraqi Police force in Mosul May 20.
The Defense and Interior Ministers asked civilians from the Ninewah Province to join the ranks of the Iraqi Army and Police forces.
The recruits were in a mini bus on their way to enlist when they were attacked and killed.
