ALPINE, Texas, Oct. 1 -- Sul Ross State University issued the following news release:
Sul Ross State University junior cornerback Johnnie Williams, Hempstead, has been named American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Lobo defense in a 17-0 shutout win over visiting Howard Payne Sept. 27.
