AUGUSTA, Maine, July 8 -- The Maine Department of Financial and Profesional Regulation issued the following news release:
Over the weekend of July 5th three people from Washington County were hospitalized with symptoms of paralytic shellfish poisoning, also known as red tide poisoning. This occurred several hours after they shared a meal of mussels. Samples of the mussels were highly contaminated with the toxin that causes paralytic shellfish poisoning.
