MONTGOMERY, Ala., Aug. 29 -- The Alabama Department of Public Health issued the following news release:
The Office of Radiation Control of the Alabama Department of Public Health has been notified that an industrial gauging device containing radioactive materials was lost from a pickup truck in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 28, 2008.
The Troxler Model 3440 device contains two radioactive sources used to measure density and moisture of compacted soils . . .
