The state's seasonally adjusted August 2025 unemployment rate was 3.7 percent, unchanged from July's revised rate. The national rate increased 0.1 of a percentage point to 4.3 percent.

University of North Carolina School of Medicine Associate Professor Says Misperceptions On Nicotine Can Be Corrected
WASHINGTON, Sept. 20 -- University of North Carolina School of Medicine Associate Professor Justin Byron submitted a public comment letter to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sharing data on misperceptions regarding very low nicotine content (VLNC) cigarettes and presenting findings on how these misperceptions can be corrected.
