WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 -- The Coalition for Sludge Free Land submitted a public comment letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency urging the agency to broaden its draft risk assessment for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in sewage sludge. The coalition, representing 26 national organizations working to prevent land contamination from sewage sludge, argues that the current assessment does not fully capture the risks associated with PFAS, commonly known as "forever chemicals."
